Non Funded Vaccinations
If travelling near or far, it is worth while considering whether you need protection against certain diseases. Even within the Pacific Islands and Bali, you will not be protected against certain illnesses, such as hepatitis A and typhoid, as these illnesses are not very common in New Zealand. If planning travel, we recommend a travel consultation with one of our nurses. They will give you up to date information and offer vaccinations if required. Please try to book as early as possible prior to intended travel so there is time for your vaccinations.
If you’ve had a blood test or other medical test, the doctor or nurse will only contact you if there is a concern. If your results are normal, you won’t be contacted. Please phone the nurse if you would still like to know your results. Leave a couple of days for blood and urine results and a week for smears and two weeks for the results of skin biopsies. If the nurse is busy please leave a message and she will get back to you as soon as possible.
CarePlus is a government-funded service that is free to users. If you have two or more chronic (ongoing) medical problems (e.g. diabetes and high blood pressure) then you are eligible for CarePlus. You will have four consultations with one of our specialist nurses over the year to offer help and advice on the management of your condition. Please ask us about this if you think you are eligible.
