LARC methods are among the most effective forms of birth control, providing reliable pregnancy prevention for several years without needing daily attention. They are suitable for many women and can be removed at any time if you decide to become pregnant or would like to change your contraception.
Every woman is different. During your appointment, your GP will discuss your medical history, medications, lifestyle, and future fertility plans to help you choose the most appropriate contraception. We can also answer questions about side effects, changing contraception, emergency contraception, and protection against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the tissues supporting the bladder, uterus or bowel weaken, allowing one or more of these organs to bulge or descend into the vagina. It can cause a feeling of heaviness or dragging, a vaginal bulge, discomfort, or changes in bladder or bowel function. Prolapse is common, particularly following childbirth and after menopause.
For some women, a vaginal pessary can provide effective, non-surgical support. A pessary is a removable device placed inside the vagina to help support the prolapsed organs and reduce symptoms. Dr Sarah Wiseman can provide assessment and pessary fitting at Silverdale Medical, including selecting and fitting an appropriate pessary and arranging follow-up to check that it is comfortable and working well.
Where pelvic floor physiotherapy or other specialist treatment would be beneficial, we can recommend or refer you to the appropriate provider.
